Our restaurateurs and their culinary delights: Michele's Spring Delicacies

Calici e Mare stands out among our restaurants as it is situated directly on the beach, offering contemporary and innovative cuisine that guests can savour to the soothing sounds of the sea.

Michele runs the restaurant with steadfast dedication. His passion for cooking, meticulous selection of ingredients, and the seamless blend of specialties, all set against the backdrop of a unique ambiance and with the support of a committed team, have made this establishment a beloved spot. It’s a haven for those seeking serene moments by the sea or celebrating special occasions.

Before diving into the culinary scene, Michele took a different route, working as an electrician before returning to his family’s culinary roots. His parents had run a popular ice cream parlour along the Cavallino-Treporti coast for many years.

Michele’s journey then led him to manage Chiosco Verde, a beach kiosk in Marina di Venezia. What began as a modest venture flourished into one of the most cherished beach bars in the area, thanks to Michele’s flair for mixology and the spirited dedication of his young team. An event combining aperitifs and dinner, in collaboration with a local chef, ignited Michele's interest in gastronomy. He honed his culinary skills during the off-season, working with a chef in a local restaurant. It was a real apprenticeship, starting from the basics. Michele's humility and commitment paid off, along with the intensive study of books and manuals on the subject. 

When the chance to open a beachside restaurant presented itself, Michele embraced it, and in 2017, Calici e Mare was inaugurated, enhancing the gastronomic scene of Marina di Venezia.

More than just popular with our guests, the restaurant has become a favoured location for hosting events such as christenings and ceremonies, especially beach weddings, with couples captivated by its romantic and magical atmosphere that promises unforgettable experiences.

With each passing year, the menu has been refined to introduce new gourmet creations while preserving traditional favourites, all infused with Michele’s signature finesse. The menu’s monthly updates are a testament to the collaborative spirit of the staff, and some classic dishes, like the beloved risotto, remain staples.

As we look forward to the new season and the reopening of our camping village and restaurants, Michele recommends a gourmet revisited seasonal delicacy, perfect for spring: asparagus with eggs.
